Chris is pursuing a Ph.D. in Plant Biology at Ohio University.  He joined the Department of Environmental and Plant Biology in the Fall of 2004 to work with Dr. Harvey Ballard on the evolution and ecology of the Hawaiian violets.  His current project is a collaboration between the Wyatt and Ballard laboratories to look at differential gene expression between several Hawaiian violets.

  • Identification of differentially expressed genes in two replicate sub-lineages of Hawaiian Viola
  • Comparing leaf and stem anatomy between replicate ecomorphs of Hawaiian Violets
