Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery - Reynoldsburg, Ohio
Located just south of Main Street, near South Street in Reynoldsburg is the small Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. This one was a real treat for me, since I found it by missing my turn and having to take an alternate route to another cemetery. Across the street from this one is Silent Home Cemetery.
Unfortunately, I have found little information on this one so far, but I can say based on observations that the first burial seems to have been in 1825; if any predate that one, the stone for it would have been in pathetic shape. This one is very mixed as far as the stones go; some are in excellent condition, others are worn so badly you can barely tell they were ever engraved.
Perhaps my favorite part of this cemetery is the fact that it was restored in 1998 by Operation Flag. I would've hated to see what sad shape it was in before then.
While most burials in this cemetery predate the Civil War, there are a few afterwards. I intially believed that the last burial was in 1897, but then in the corner of the cemetery I found one stone marked after that date: a burial from 1967. Most intriguing is that there were no known burials between 1897 and 1967. I'm genuinely hoping to get more information on this one as I do more research.
