Asbury Cemetery
Based upon my research, there was once a town called Asbury where now only a church and this cemetery stand at the corner of Winchester Pike and Noe-Bixby Road. My mom tells me stories of hearing about it,
and friends of my parents have also told me about it, and records to verify it were tough to find. I was on my way home from getting tires
for my car when I made a stop at Asbury Cemetery with my mom on June 11, 2004. The oldest stone we found was extremely hard to read and read 1814. After that,
there were none again until 1832, and then quite frequent years between then and now. Since all records indicate that this cemetery dates from 1814, it is one of the oldest cemeteries in Franklin County, especially amongst those that still exsist, and even more so amongst those that are still active. This is a very nifty little cemetery, and includes the first VietNam veterans plaque that ever found. Please, if you have any history about this still-functioning little cemetery or the town it used to serve, email me: timeracer@gmail.com. The gallery is below, with descriptions below the images.
