Alexander Presbyterian Cemetery - Alexander, Ohio
US 50 West can be one long, boring drive. It's just your average 4-lane divided highway that bores you to tears for many miles; with the very notable exception of Alexander Presbyterian Cemetery. Located right next to (and is listed as part of) Alexander Cemetery on US 50 and Athens County Road 19B, the whole cemetery goes on forever it seems. On this particular Spring afternoon, however, Leo and I were pressed for time and therefore only explored the oldest section right behind the church, the original Alexander Presbyterian Cemetery. The church is still used, as is evidence by the signs and the fact that I know a couple who drive out here for church rather than attend in Athens. To get to this one, you'll want to take US 33 into Athens, Ohio, and then take the 32/50 West split off. When you're heading west, this one is on the left-hand side. While the larger Alexander cemetery is very modern, this little piece of history is a fairy tale come true. Walking around it, you'd swear you were back in the 19th century, as it's the perfect little churchyard cemetery. It is very well cared for, and as it's next to a freeway, I wouldn't recommend ghost-hunting in this one. I haven't heard any stories about ghosts here, and I felt nothing but serenity here, but if you have a story or information to share with me, please do!
