INFORMATION THEORY INDEX
By Samantha Orban
Information Theory was developed by Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver. Its main goal is to reduce the amount of information loss. Information can be defined as anything that makes a difference. By reducing the noise encountered in a message, it becomes easier to understand. This website will discuss ways to reduce noise, as well as other important areas of information theory.
The following is a list of several key points and the links at which you can view more information:
Reducing entropy bit by bit with information
Information + Noise= Channel Capacity (the amount of information that can be transmitted)
Redundancy and Predictability (the English language is about 50% redundant, therefore, highly predictable)
The Linear Model of Communication (featured below)
