C. Scott Smith is an Associate Professor of Horn and Theory; Chair, Brass and Percussion Divisions; at the School of Music, Ohio University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna cum Laude, from the University of Southern Maine, and a Master of Music degree in Music Theory from Michigan State University. Mr. Smith has pursued DMA studies at Michigan State and the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford where he has completed a year of residency.

Mr. Smith is musically active outside of the School of Music as Principal Horn of the Ohio Valley Symphony, Maine State Ballet Orchestra, and he is a founding member of OhioBrass, Ohio University's resident brass quintet. He performs as a soloist nationally with large ensembles and in recitals. Mr. Smith has also adjudicated national solo ensemble competitions, MTNA state finals, band festivals and the American Horn Competition.

In addition to arranging music for different ensembles, artists, and settings, C. Scott Smith summers in Maine where he performs, teaches Horn and conducts the Concert Orchestra at New England Music Camp.
