Teaching

• Writing and Rhetoric II

  (English 308JW ... "W" for Web)  Offered by the Independent Study program at Ohio University, for full Junior-level credit. All coursework is conducted through the internet and students can enroll from anywhere in the world.   The course is in session during O.U. quarters and enrollment is continuous when vacancies occur.

• Internet Writing

  (on-campus Technical Writing, English 305J)  Lab-based. Students learn how to write and publish in the electronic workplace, developing both the craft of informational writing and methods of communicating using email, online conferences, and websites. Each student creates a personal website with five linked assignments.  (offered since Spring 97)

   

• Writing and Rhetoric I

  (on-campus Freshman Composition: English 151)  Lab-based. Practice in composing and revising expository essays which are well organized, logically coherent, and effective for their purpose and audience. Topics from personal experience or nonfiction reading. (offered in selected quarters)

   

• Writing and Film

  (on-campus Freshman Composition: Special Topics, English 153)  Classroom-based. This course uses a familiar art to illuminate and improve writing skills.  Movies give students a colorful, energetic source of ideas and content to work with as they practice and experiment with clarity, structure, fluency, and rhetorical control.  (offered in selected quarters)

Discussion Forums

Discussion forums are websites inviting messages that are organized by topic and are available to visitors at any time using any browser.  Forums are divisions of larger On-Line Conferences.  I design, maintain, and monitor on-line conferences on a dedicated server at O.U.
