Scholarships
1.) A new 1,000 scholarship program for college students majoring in Safety or Industrial Hygiene is now being offered by Utilities Division of the National Safety Council. The Bill D. Young scholarship memorializes the telecommunications safety executive and long time volunteer to the Council who died in 2001. The scholarship is offered to college students pursuing a degree in either safety or industrial hygiene and plan to enter the safety and health fields after graduation. It will be awarded based on information provided by the canidates, including related safety and health work experience; activities, awards and honors; financial need; and unusual circumstances. 2.) 3M will award $5,000 scholarships to four outstanding students. The purpose is to recognize college students of industrial hygiene for their high level of scholarship, contributions to the profession and intent to pursue industrial careers in the discipline. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, related work experience, and professional goals by a selection committee comprised of 3M health and safety managers. Recipients will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana. 3.) Student Enhancement Awards. Intended to provide support for research, scholarships, and creative activity by undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. Awards will be made to support the direct project costs. Awards are limited to $6,000 per award. See Dr. Ryan for award guidelines.
4.) Joseph A Holmes Safety Association Scholarship Program. This award endeavors to promote health and safety within the mining industry. We believe that providing financial aid to students int he pursuit of education related to mining safety will result in safer mines and healthier environments within the mining industry. It is open to persons currently employed or who are pursuing careers in the mining industry, safety and health fields. 5.) Scholarship Award Application for Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Education. The Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Division offers a $2,000 scholarship to encourage the study of occupational safety. The program is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in academic programs that lead to degrees in safety, health or environmental affairs.
6.) The public risk management association in cooperation with Coregis is taking applications for any student currently enrolled in Occupational Safety or a similar degree program. This scholarship will cover expenses related to attending PRIMAs Annual Conference. Plus a check for $2000. 7.) Alumni Scholarship. Any college of Health and Human Services may apply. You must demonstrate service and leadership abilities and maintain an accumulative GPA of 2.9 for undergrads and 3.0 for grad students. The approximate award amount is $1,000 for upperclassmen and $500 for Freshman. Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application.
8.) Central Ohio AIHA Scholarship. Those with an Industrial Hygiene major who are returning full time students with a 3.0 GPA. The selection is made by IH/EH faculty and Health Sciences Scholarship Committee. Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application.
9.) M Chain Robbins Memorial Scholarship. Granted to IH majors with 3.0 accumulative GPA. This is provided by NE Ohio Industrial Hygiene Association. It's available every 3 years. Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application.
10.) Craig Christopher Snuggs Memorial Scholarship. For Industrial Hygiene students. Financial need is primary consideration, but students need not meet federal guidelines for need. FAFSA not required. Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application.
11.) The Clifford Houk Industrial Hygiene Scholarship. For industrial hygiene students with 3.0 accumulative. Required to be an Athens campus student demonstrated invovement in extracurricular activities.Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application.
12.) Deans Scholarship. For any major within the College of Health and Human services. Student must have a 3.4 GPA. Must have attended OU at least two quarters. Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application. Approximate award amount is $1250-$2000 awarded in three installments to cover the academic year.
13.) Anonymous Scholarship. Any college in health and Human Services. Student must be Junior or Senior rank, and must meet federal guidelines for need; FAFSA is required. 3.5 Accumulative GPA. Apply via OAK computer account in the university general electronic application.
