9/18----- 5pm to whenever (approximately): IH/EHSA Social

Pizza party at my (moderator) house. Directions are: Rt 56, past Morrison School, on the left. The driveway is just past a big white house, with a pond in the front yard. If you reach the country club, you've gone too far. Call 707-7552 to set up carpool/if lost. The reason for this social is to eat, drink, be merry, and discuss what we want to do with OUR association. All students in Health Sciences (friends of Health Sciences, or people just wanting to hang out with a bunch of safety nerds...) Are welcome to attend. RSVP: 707-7552

9/25----(8-3) Recruiting at College Gate:

Come join us in handing out flyers at college gate. Let's start this year off with a bang and all get together in advertising our majors, and have a fun time doing it. Per usual, we will wrap up the event at BW3s. (First round on the profs if over 21. Contact Dr. Ryan for when to show up.

Topics for Discussion:

Here is your section to input whatever you want. Listed are some topics that I feel are important. Please feel free to make comments and additional suggestions. Email your comments to ct196199@ohiou.edu and they will be posted.

1.) Fundraisers-- WE NEED MONEY! If anyone has any brilliant ideas on how we should go about raising money, please comment.

2.) T-Shirt Contest-- Not a wet T-Shirt contest, but design... We need to come up with something to represent our Association. If anyone can come up with a fresh idea, please let us know. If anyone needs a starting off point, just look at the old (and very out dated) shirts that Dr. Ryan has...

3.) High School IH/EH Recruiting Committee: This takes a bit of discussion, and will be brought up at the social and meetings. But basically, we need to get a group of people together that can work on a travel package of material for members of the SA to take to their highschools (and other local schools) and advertise IH/EH at OU. Basically the package would consist of a video about IH/EH, posters, and a Question/Answer sheet. Eventually we would like to start going to school, but lets just start with preparation...

4.) Class tutors: One possiblity for the SA is to set up a help session This would allow those of us that have taken the courses, to help those struggling... We're such a small major, we should stick together and give tips on how to handle profs...

5.) Suggestions of speakers: We would like to have a variety of people come in and talk to our association. If anyone knows of people that would like to talk to us, please let me know.

6.) Resume Help: Same idea. If anyone knows anyone who is gives resume building advice, I'm sure it could be useful to all of us...

7.) Internships/Co-Ops: Please talk about your experiences with Internships, and share with those who haven't yet had one.

 

This is all for now, however please feel free to email me and add suggestions of your own. The SA might only meet once or twice a month, but we all have good ideas, so lets keept this thing updated.
