IH 200: Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

Course Description: This course will introduce the student to common industrial hygiene problems, sampling techniques, and equipment. The students will learn basic sampling methods, and will observe instructor arranged demonstrations of typical IH equipment.
Course Objectives: Educate the student with respect to those aspects of occupational health and safety most typically considered the professional domain of a professional industrial hygienist. Impart awareness to the student for the selection and use of industrial hygiene sampling equipment. Describe to students the ultimate difficulty potential of professional IH problems.
Course Format: Lectures, Videos, Web Modules, Guest Lectures, & Group Discussion
Attendance: Each student will be held responsible for material content as presented in class or on the web, including syllabus changes and assignments made by the instructor in class. Grade disputes will be considered subjectively with respect to the student's attendance record.
Grading and testing: Grades will be assigned per the OU catalog. There will be two In-terms and a comprehensive final exam. The two In-terms will each be worth 30% of the course grade, with the remaining 40% allocated to final exam result. No make-up exams or labs will be offered unless special circumstances apply.
