Start Word.
Click "Insert".
Click "Symbol".
Make sure "Normal text" shows in the box for "Font".
Click on the accented letter you want.
Click on "Shortcut Key".
In box for "Press New Shortcut Key", press whatever combination of keys you want for that letter. Example: press ALT e for é.
Stay with ALT as much as possible, because CTRL combos are often used for Word commands.
Click "Assign".
Click "Close".
Repeat above steps for as many accented letters as you wish.
When you've finished, click "Close".
