Return to New Zealand
We were, of course, very glad to be back in New Zealand. I had heard that Dunedin, the place where the ship was to be repaired, was settled by Scottish imigrants. I therefore told everyone that it was pronounced "Doon-E-Din." I was teased a lot about this. Before going to the drydock we had a visitors day and hundreds of people came to the ship. They were amazed with our automatic coke machine and drained it dry.
I met a girl in Dunedin and she came aboard ship during one of the visitors days. One of the guys saw us go into the fire control shack and put a padlock on the door. We were locked in there for hours.
I believe that this is the damaged screw from our ship after being removed in drydock.
