South Park
The History of a Great Comedy Cartoon
In The Beginning:
South Park was created by the masterminds of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Both of these men were students at the University of Colorado when they created a short cartoon called "Jesus vs. Frosty." In this episode a snowman that is made by some kids comes to life and starts to kill everyone. After Trey and Matt created this cartoon, it wasn't until the American Fox Network got a hold of it until they got their chance to have their cartoon become something more than just a "short cartoon." Trey and Matt were asked by the American Fox Network to produce another short cartoon, which they did and named it "The Spirit of Christmas." This cartoon then made its way onto the internet, which is when Matt and Trey hit the jackpot. This cartoon was then picked up by Comedy Central and made into the series of South Park.
The Main Characters:
Eric Cartman (My personal favorite)
Cartman is the kid who offends everyone and cares about no one, not even his "friends" Stan, Kyle and Kenny. He's an extremely fat kid and insists that he is "big boned", not fat. He hates hippies, foreigners, and always has to be number one when it comes to everything. He loves to eat and especially loves his junk food, i.e. Cheesy Poofs (which is visible given his physical stature). In one episode Scott Tenorman gets Cartman to buy his pubes off of him for $16.12. Cartman gets so mad at Scott for not only tricking him but refusing to give him his money back that he devises a plan to get Scott to attend a chili festival where Cartman's chili is comprised of Scott's parents body grinded up body parts. Scott then eats Cartman's chili not knowing what is in it, while Cartman reveals his entire plan of how he got it to happen, laughing the entire time. It is definately a must-see episode and just one of Cartman's hilarious, gross pranks.
Stan Marsh:
Stan is the one kid in the group of the four that is the most "normal" of the group. His father is the sole scientist, a geologist, of the city of South Park, Colorado. When the cases of "spontaneous combustion" comes to South Park, Stan's dad is the one who discovers that the cause of spontaneous combustion is that people are holding their farts in too much. Stan is also madly in love with Wendy Testaburger, a girl who is in his class at South Park Elementary. He gets so nervous when she first starts coming around him that whenever she comes up to him he throws up all over her, regardless of the occasion. They then both start dating, however, when she wants to break up with him he is so devastated that he leaves his friends to join the group who "hates life and conformists."
Kyle Broflovski:
Kyle gets bashed by all of the others, especially Cartman, for being Jewish. He is the one of the group who always seems to be the only one with a conscience and tries to steer away from getting in to trouble, even though the other three usually get him into trouble somehow. He is the richer one of the group because his dad is an attorney. His other best friend, besides Stan, is Mr. Hankey the Christmas Pooh, who is a turd that comes around every Christmas to play with Kyle. Mr. Hankey also has a Christmas special.
Kenny McCormick:
Kenny has the unfortunate luxury of dieing a painful death in almost every episode, which spurs the famous line, "Oh my God! They killed Kenny! You Bastards!!!" He also has two parents who are the biggest drunks of the town, and has a family who is violent. His coat covered his mouth and his speech is therefore muffled every time he speaks. Most of the time you can never make out what Kenny is saying, but the characters in the show understand and respond, going on like its normal conversation with Kenny.
