The following photos were taken by Dr. E. S. Fernando in Bohol in mid September, except for the photo of seedlings, which was taken in December.

Specimens from this area have been identified as G. luzoniensis and G. cumingiana, but this species is neither.

G. cumingiana is the only species identified from Leyte by Sleumer, but without reproductive material it's hard to tell what this species may be.  The first set of pictures is from a steep hillside on the edge of a farmed plot.

The second set of pictures comes from a tree planted by Leyte State University's Visca nursery.  Three trees were collected as seedlings and planted in 1995.  Two are apparently male and one is female, with yellow fruits that are ripe in June.  All three trees are about 11 cm dbh.

This is almost certainly an undescribed species.  It doesn't match the description for G. cumingiana, and no other described species has the combination of a glabrous ovary and velutinous twigs and leaves.  We hope to recollect from this location to get mature fruits and male and female flowers.  We found several saplings first:

Then at the end of the day, on the last day of the trip, we found two mature fruiting trees and a male tree that had shed its inflorescences already.
