Research in the Developmental Psycholinguistics Lab centers on studying the intersection of information processing mechanisms and real-time sentence processing (and offline sentence comprehension) in school-age children with specific language impairment (SLI) and typically developing children. Our main focus is understanding the influence of information processing on children's complex grammar processing.
Studying information processing mechanisms and their role in language processing not only has important theoretical implications but also important implications for assessment of and intervention with children with language impairments.
Other areas of research interest include the interaction of information processing and narrative comprehension, as well as better understanding the functional operation of children's working memory and auditory attention systems.
