Oh Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
And when ye come and all the flowers are dying,
And I shall hear tho' soft you tread above me,
from glen to glen and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone and all the roses falling.
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.
Still I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow.
Oh Danny Boy, oh Danny Boy, I love you so.
if I am dead, as dead I well may be,
you'll come and find the place where I am lying
and kneel and say an Ave there for me.
and all my grave will warmer sweeter be.
If you will bend and tell me that you love me,
then I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.

Johnny Costa was the Mozart of jazz piano. Jazz legend Art Tatum, called Costa "the white Tatum." Costa, one of the world's greatest pianists, is best known for his work as the musical director of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," a PBS television program now in its 35th year. But Costa was much more than a pianist for children. A musician's musician, his work was applauded by jazz masters Benny Carter, Dave Brubeck, Tommy Dorsey, Dizzy Gillespie, Marion McPartland, Peter Nero, Andre Previn, Buddy Rich, Mel Torme and Art Tatum, Costa's most significant influence. -- http://johnnycosta.com/ |

This summer will be different I will move across the town
I will assume the accent of some Yankee sailor boy
And her name will be Pam or Ruth, so I'll be Chuck or Wayne,
As she will cry for my leaving, she will cry because I stay
Promenade above the beach until my face turns brown
With my hands in pockets and a casual stroll from the town beach to the dock.
The girls they walk in two's and three's, their pretty cotton frocks teased by the breeze.
And I will find a long limbed summer girl for me.
Stranded between merchant ships with some time to enjoy.
A week or two down by the bay with tupp'ney ice-cream cones
And petticoats and sandy kisses presses smooth as stones washed by the sea
And I will find a long limbed summer girl for me.
And we will know and love each other, then I will explain
Why I haven't found a ship and that I live in town
Before we share that cigarette, in ways of love, we'll drown down by the sea,
My long limbed salty summer girl and me.
She will cry for my deceiving that (we can need) every day
This love affair it proved so strong because we had to part,
And now we will do anyway and she will take my heart and I'll be free
To find another summer girl who'll give it back to me. -- Summer Girls by Ralph McTell
