Research interests
My current research considers the effects
of various forest management regimes on the soil seed bank of mixed-oak
forest. I am exploring differences in the species
composition of the soil seed bank of areas which have been subjected to various
forest management treatments (prescribed burning, thinning, both thinning and
burning, and an untreated control). Though
the effects of forest management treatments on other aspects of the forest
community, such as herbaceous vegetation and woody regeneration, have been
previously studied, impacts on the soil seed bank have not been examined. I will additionally compare the species
compositions of the above-ground vegetation and the soil seed bank within each
treatment.
