Hurry Up and Wait!
I love waiting. Waiting in long lines at restaurants, waiting for the
rides at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio. And I really like waiting
at traffic lights in my car. I just love waiting. Who doesn’t?
Okay. I’m kidding. The truth is that most of us hate to wait. But
Waiting is exactly what we need to do if we want to be strong. If we want power
In our lives, waiting is the key. According to Scripture, waiting is a
catalyst for growth (Isaiah 40:31.) It doesn’t seem to make sense,
through, does it? I mean, waiting is what weak, passive, pushovers' do, right?
And they never get anywhere in life.
Some people who don’t know God may actually believe that. But God tells
Us that those of us who wait on Him will walk, run, and fly! We will soar
(like eagles!) because we are waiting on God.
So how does this "waiting makes me strong" thing work? Am I waiting on
my own inner strength? Am I waiting on someone else to come through for
me? No, the Bible says that we put our trust in the One who is
trustworthy--our heavenly Father. God is worthy of my trust because He
is God and He loves me! He is good and can be trusted with our hopes and
dreams. We can be sure that He doesn’t laugh at us or downgrade our
desires. He has our best interest in mind--so we can wait for Him to
move in our lives (Romans 8:28; 1 Corinthians 2:9).
God has great things planned for those who love Him. Our responsibility
Is to do all we can to prepare ourselves for His plan. We prepare
Ourselves through prayer, exercising our gifts, fellowship with other believers,
And obedience to Gods Word. Waiting is not a passive activity!
Waiting may not come naturally to us, but when we feel the pain of
Broken promises and relationships, and were tempted to run ahead of God and
Fix everything, we must remember to slow down and wait. Gods strength and
power will be demonstrated when we wait patiently for Him to move.
Take it from someone who has had to learn the hard way: Waiting on God
Is always better than trying to fix things on your own.
