What is the CAFÉ?

The Word Writing CAFÉ is a new assessment tool designed for teachers to objectively evaluate students’ word writing ability for fluency, accuracy and complexity. Contrasted with other writing assessment tools, you can use the CAFÉ with your whole class at one time, and it can be used at all grade levels.

Teachers that have used it report that the CAFÉ is a quick and useful way to document student progress in word writing and help design instructional plans.
