Golf – the most
interesting of all sports
I hope
that you all and I will have time away from the university to follow the
passioned sport of golf, I personally spend so much time as possible when I´m
not studying playing golf. I´d like to share with you a great golf shop I´ve
found in the internet http://www.golfakademie-gmbh.de
unfortunately the shop is a German shop and I don´t understand very much of the
text. However they do always appear to have all the new products on internet
before the shops in America.
I´d just been looking at the new range of Adidas shoes (Adidas
Golfschuhe) I think that´s the German and they´ve got really crazy colours
for next year. The
golfshop has got at least four or five thousand different products. Many
products that they don´t have in the USA
especially from the firm
Mizuno,
the range of shoes from
FootJoy seems to
be totally different to the golf shoes that are sold in America. The golf clubs in Europe
appear to be nearly always with a graphite shaft where we play in America with
normally a steel shaft. They also have got all the new
Callaway
products that are not yet deliverable in America. Now I´ve be trying to look
at the conditions for shipping to America (Golfversand)
however I did not really understand what everything costs.
They appear unlike the websites in America an
information side with everything to do with the history from every golf firm. I
am definitely sure, that it would have been interesting if I could have
understood it. In any case I have had a great time looking at the pictures and
would be very interestest in what you are thinking about the website.
Even when you look at all the different
golfball
models they appear to be totally different to those in America. I do not know how many
people play golf on the campus however I hope you will find the side
interesting. Maybe even there are some German students who will be able to help
me with the translation and can help me with understanding the German language.
As you all know golf is so popular in America,
does anybody know how popular it is in Germany,
or is there anybody who has ever visited Germany?
Just a few interesting points about golf.
Golf was first played in
Holland – I had always thought that it was
Scotland. Has anybody ever played in
St. Andrews? I have always seen this on TV. It looks amazing with
its hills and sand dunes and the bunkers. I have heard that some of the bunkers
you even need a ladder to climb into them. In 1995 in St.
Andrews John Daly won his first British Open – I remember watching on TV. And
then the next Open was won with total domination by Tiger Woods, and this year I
watched the amazing climax as Padriag Harrington won it in a playoff against
Sergio Garcia. It was really exciting. It was a shame that Tiger did not win.
