Depending on bus sales are naturally the providers, who could be private or public.
Living in a city and lacking a basic bus facility for the public, I have still not been able to figure out, why private bus companies offering shuttle buses have not come into existence here.
Of course private buses are owned by big companies, who ferry their staff to and from the company, and the bus sales for such high-tech buses with automatic doors, plush seats, air-conditioning and tinted glass are definitely looking up in the market.
City transport should mainly be catered by buses. First of all, the fuel consumption on a larger basis is friendlier for the environment. How? 35 people traveling in a bus would have otherwise got into their respective cars and traveled the same distance in 35 or even 30 cars. Besides the fuel saving, think of the bus sales in comparison to the cars.
In a country like India, where the population is rising and the density of the cities is increasing, bus travel could be considered the best mode of transport.
Isn’t it better to have a good mode of public transport, which one can use hassle-free, no vehicle insurance, no fuel to be filled, no parking space and above all no investment at all – only a bus ticket ? That means that bus sales has to be supported.
Bus sales of course do not directly profit the common man. But it is you and I who use the bus today, as a part of the public transport system, and would feel grateful that it is there for our power of movement.
Bus sales against car sales and motorcycle sales do not add to the budgeting of individuals or families. The moment I can afford a car, I buy one, because it gives me status and independence. By all means, use the car, but keep it for special occasions, but using the bus as public transport is a boon to the environment.
