A "family" portrait, as we truly have become family!   Here's an image pressed in our bungalow right after the most recent lull in the Storm.   From the left: Zebos, Aldrige, my mother Denia, and myself.  As you can see, Aldrige just wasn't in a good mood after having to seal up the bungalow after his brief trip above.  I can't say I blame him.  I wonder what's worse...being stuck down here with only memories of the world before the Great Storm, or being like me -- stuck down here without those memories.  He insists I'm the lucky one, but I wish I at least knew firsthand what I was missing. -R-

A Brief Account of the Imaging Biotechnology

Our family keeps several Retinas plants with us on our journeys (and, more recently, in our Bungalow).  They are small, lightweight, require little maintenance, and their leaves have a unique property.  When leaves are removed from the plant (they don' t seem to mind, at least according to a Cavolon friend of my father's), the photosynthetic pigments capture any photons that strike the upper surface of the leaf and trap that image permanently.  Once pressed, the leaves are sturdy and will hold an image with little deterioration for many generations with proper care.  I intend to record my explorations in this journal using these marvels, so that others may see what my eyes have witnessed.
