Rautha's Story

For all who read these tomes, I have included some background on my history....

There's really very little to tell, actually.  When I was very young, I am told, before the Great Torpor Storm hit, my family traveled to these parts along with another family, of which Aldrige and Zebos are the sole survivors.  We had heard there was a settlement in these parts in which we could take refuge from the coming Storm, but somehow we became lost.  This was not an uncommon event, I fear, for my father, Ragbar, though a very accomplished explorer, has never been very good at following a set path.  He always seemed to get distracted by strange rock formations, interesting caves, or exotic creatures he discovered along the way.  Indeed, many of his great discoveries came by accident as he wandered off the beaten path instead of continuing onto his destination. 

His curiosity worked against our group on this trip.   We were unable to find the settlement, and were forced to excavate an underground cavern to weather the storm.  Shortly after we were relatively safe in our "bungalow", a brief lull occurred in the Storm's winds and my father, Zebos's mate Werzog, and his son Heinr left in search of the settlement.  They never returned, and we can only assume the worst.  I have lived my entire life to this point only knowing my mother, Denia, and our two friends Zebos and Aldrige.  Though we have become a very close group, I have come of age, and want nothing more than to leave this place and seek my own adventures -- I grow tired of living vicariously through the stories of my father's adventures.  The Storm should end soon, however, and then my life will truly begin.
