31st Operational Squadron Database File: Neu Swabian League (Unofficial)

AUTHORIZATION CONFIRMED: TRANSMISSION BEGINS

The Neu Swabian league has been a steadfast ally of the NAC since its formation in 2101. Although many of the weapons systems used by the NAC and NSL share many common qualities (mostly due to the remnants of the old NATO command structure), the NSL Starreflotte developed in an entirely different manner than that of the Royal Navy.

Neu Swabian ships follow German naval tradition- they may not have the most firepower, but they can take more damage than anything else out there. All NSL sailors are extensively trained in damage control, and NSL ships traditionally carry more damage control parties than other navies. Also following another German tradition, the NSL is very well drilled in gunnery. Neu Swabian warships, like their blue water predecessors, are without equal when it comes to putting their weapons on target.

The Starreflotte is not a carrier navy, although there is a healthy carrier air arm in commision. However, the NSL uses its carriers for surgical strikes, not as the backbone of its fleet. The NSL is very much a battleship navy, with the Von Tegethoff and Szent Istvan class dreadnoughts forming the majority of their striking power. These ships are very large, with powerful screen systems. Another interesting feature is that they are constructed somewhat modularly. Although the basic designs carry fighters, the fighter bays can be removed very easily (in under a day if the yard crew is experienced) and replaced with other equipment, usually pulse torpedoes. This gives NSL admirals great tactical flexibilty, and gives the FSE and ESU headaches when trying to keep track of what vessels are carrying what weapons at any given time.

Like the other databases, this list is not comprehensive. Notably absent is the new Richtofen class battlecruiser. Operational data on this new vessel is very limited (there are only three in existence right now), and it was decided not to include it here. As new data is released, it will be placed in this database

If you have any further intelligence to add to this database, please contact the commmander of the 31st OS, Rear Admiral James Moore
