Winston, New Mexico

Winston (actually originally called Fairview until 1930) is in Sierra County 29 miles west of I-25 exit 83 on New Mexico route 52.  It is not completely ghostly, and only a few remnants of its heyday appear to exist today.  I could find only one structure amongst the photographs in the various references that is still extant today.

 

This unidentified structure appears on page 100 in Varney's book (1981).  Below is the same structure on November 8, 2002.

Varney also included a photo of a deserted school, but I could not find it during my visit.
