NEW MEXICO

I have visited ghost towns in the state of New Mexico on several occasions in recent years.  The dates of my visits are shown below next to the town names.  The inspiration for the visits came from the following books:

bulletHaunted Highways — The Ghost Towns of New Mexico by Ralph Looney (University of New Mexico Press, 1968)
bulletGhost Towns of the West, text and photographs by William Carter (Lane Magazine and Book Company, Menlo Park, California, 1971)
bullet Ghost Town Album and New Mexico, Texas Ghost Towns by Lambert Florin (Superior Publishing Company, Seattle, 1972 and 1971, respectively)
bulletEchos of the Past — New Mexico's Ghost Towns by Patricia F. Meleski (University of New Mexico Press, Albuquerque, 1972)
bullet Ghost Towns and Mining Camps of New Mexico by James E. and Barbara H. Sherman (University of Oklahoma Press, 1975)
bullet New Mexico's Best Ghost Towns by Philip Varney (University of New Mexico Press, 1981)
bullet Ghost Towns, Gamblers, and Gold by Chuck Lawliss (Gallery Books, New York, 1985).

Here's another nice site, maintained by Ronald Standler, with more Texas and New Mexico ghost towns and links to other Texas and New Mexico ghost town sites.
