Dubuque is located about 10 or 12 miles north of Kansas State Route 4, and it
sits astride the line between Russell and Barton counties. It is not on
any U.S. or state highway, but it is in a farming area on a paved county road,
so it is not entirely deserted.

This is a photo of the Dubuque Catholic Church appearing
on page 184 of Fitzgerald's book (1988). As his caption notes, it is
prominent on the prairie.
Below is the same structure in November 2002. It
has been restored and landscaped, it's quite beautiful, and it sees
regular use. The clock is even correct. This photo was taken
at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2002. |
