Chalk Mountain is located in Erath County about 10 miles southwest of Glen Rose on US 67.
Baker's book contains a single photo, taken in 1984, of the Chalk Mountain
Masonic Lodge. During my visit, on October 30, 1999, I found a Masonic Lodge, but
it apparently isn't the same one that Baker found in 1984. It seems that,
in 1989, a new first floor was built for the lodge, and then the original second
floor was moved to the top of the new first floor. Examine and compare the
photos below.

The upper of these two photos is the Masonic Lodge as it appeared on 10/30/99. If you
look closely, you can see that the upper floor with the old woodwork is
identical to the upper portion of the Lodge as shown in the photo above taken in
1984.
The lower photo shows the marker in the foundation describing the
history of the lodge. Note the last line: "Moved May 6,
1989." Apparently, as I noted at the top of the page, a new first
floor was built, and the old upper floor was moved to the top of it.
On July 15, 2007, I received an email from a
member of this lodge pointing out a link with more information.
