From 12/8/41, 10:45:  Familiar Melodies.  Start of program is delayed for news report from London by Fred Bates describing England's declaration of war on Japan.  Announcement is made of upcoming address by President Roosevelt to Congress at 12:30 p.m. this day and joint coverage of this by the joint networks of NBC.  Regular program begins about five minutes in.  At 10 minutes in, there is another interruption to report that 3000 were killed in the attack on Hawaii. 14:57 CD6

21:30:  "Tonight the government of the United States is at war with Japan."  NBC News report replaces the U.S. Treasury Department program "For America We Sing."  Announcer states that "the Treasury department is relinquishing this time in order that an aroused America may be kept informed."  Coverage from Manila and NBC news in New York.  Near the end is mentioned that Chinese nationals in San Francisco will wear lapel pins to identify them as such so they won't be mistaken for Japanese.  Ends with reports that the west coast of the U.S. is likely to be attacked and is under blackout. 29:19
