2002, August NETS.Work Year 2 - Institute for Schools of the Future.  Using PDAs to increase understanding of Science Concepts with Preservice Science Teachers ($46,000).  Co-Primary Investigator with Dr. Colleen Sexton.   Grant will examine the use of PDAs in the development of field work experience by undergraduate inservice science teachers and technology students.

 2002, June. National Foundation for Science (NSF) Using Haptics to Improve the Learning of Physics in Undergraduate Education. ($75,000). Co-Primary Investigator with Dr. Robert Williams, College of Engineering, Ohio University. Project will implement curriculum changes in the teaching of physics to undergraduates.                  

2001, Fall. A Collaborative Effort to Enhance Excitement in Learning for Middle School Students in High Poverty Rural School Districts of Appalachian Ohio:  The RoboCup Project. ($29,500).  Co-Primary Investigator with Dr. Catherine Glascock, Dr. Rosalie Romano, Dr. Lonnie Welch, Dr. David Chelbery, and Dr. Robert Williams II.  Project will work with 8th grade students in the RoboCup Competition using Lego Robotics.

 2001, July. NETS.Work Year 1 - Digital Models for Science, Ohio SchoolNet Grant. ($40,000) Co-Primary Investigator with Dr. Colleen Sexton, Development of high school online courses that incorporate the use of video and audio in the online environment.

 2001, March. RCET Grant – Kent State.  ($12, 000).  The Changing Roles of Pedagogy in Project-Based Learning Environments.  Co-Primary Investigator with Ahmed Ali, Graduate Student in Instructional Technology, Ohio University.

2000- 2003,  PT3 - Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology, US Department of Education Grant ($600,000 over 3 years).  Co-Primary Investigator with Dr. Bonnie Beach, Teacher Education, and Dr. Sandra Turner, Instructional Technology. Professional development for teachers in K-12 and University partnerships to systemically change courses in science, math, social studies and language arts to incorporate the use of technology and development of online implementation.

2000-Ohio University Summer Honors Institute, Ohio Department of Education. ($63,000).  Primary Investigator.  Development and implementation of a summer three-week program for talented and gifted students to explore career choices. 

2000-TIPS3 Grant, Center for Innovation in Technology and Learning ($7000).  Ohio Technology Fund. Primary Investigator- research project to examine the use of a Cohort model in the development of online courses. 

1999-Martha Holden Jennings Professional Development Workshop in Science, Mathematics and Robotics.  Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Grant ($62,000). Co-Primary Investigator with S. Turner. Professional development for teachers of Math, Science, Computer Science, and Gifted and Talented, grades 4 through 8.  Uses Lego Logo and LogoLab Robotics to teach math, science and technology concepts.

1998 –TIPS Grant.  Ohio University Foundation ($20,000).  Co-Primary Investigator with S. Turner.  Incentive grant to support the development of web based courses in the College of Education and in Instructional Technology Master’s Program.

1997-Toyota Math/Science and Robotics Summer Workshop, Toyota USA Foundation ($60,000).  Co-Primary Investigator with S. Turner: Professional development in the use of robotics to teach science and math principles, designed for teachers grades 4-6. 

1997- 1804 Grant – Ohio University, Technology in the Teacher Education Curriculum. ($40,000), Submitted by the Education Technology Committee and S. Turner, College of Education, Project Assistant. Provided notebook computers for preservice teachers to use during student teaching in the Plains Project - Primary purpose was portfolio development.

1996- School to Work Grant, Department of Labor, School to Work Division, and the Ohio Department of Education ($75,000). Multimedia in the Career Development Curriculum Primary Investigator: Grant involved grades 4-6 and Distance Education Classrooms in the development of a Career Awareness Curriculum using Multimedia.

1996-SchoolNet and Goals 2000, Learning Community Link, Contributing writer/Project Assistant Director: (Award:  $1.6 million) Telecommunications grant to provide professional development for 82 teachers K-12 in the use of telecommunications in the classroom.  This grant continued the work of the Appalachian Distance Learning Project.
 

1990 through 1994-Kilroy Foundation Grant, Primary Investigator:  (Award of $200,000 per year, total 1.5 million) Development and implementation of technology in the K-12 environment of The Kinkaid School System.
