Introduction

You are a teacher in Third grade at Laurelville Elementary. You will be taking your class on a field trip to our state capitol, Columbus, Ohio.

You are on a committee of 4 teachers, an art teacher, a science teacher, a social studies teacher, and a physical education teacher. Your committee will decide where we will go and what we will do.

Upon completion of this trip you will present you ideas and information to the class. Four different groups will present their ideas. The class will vote on which class trip we will take.

The Teachers

Each student on the in the group should pick a teaching position from the following list.

The Art Teacher would like to visit a museum to view some fine art.

The Social Studies Teacher would like to visit something to do with history.

The Science Teacher would like to visit someplace to learn about living or nonliving things.

And the Physical Education Teacher would like to go someplace where we see a sporting event.

Let's get started!

Tasks

1. Each teacher in the group:

  • Should select a specific destination for his/her subject area.
  • Name at least 3 things the students should learn at each destination.
  • Provide a map to the destination.

2. Each group should:

  • Provide the class with an schedule for our 8 hour day in Columbus.
  • Provide a map with all the destinations marked.
  • Write a report about what the class will see at each destination.

Conclusion

Finished Projects should include:

1. Date for expected trip with a schedule for that day. You could include an weather forecast for that day from www.weather.com

2. Directions and/or maps to our destinations from Mapquest. (you need to know the street address of the destination)

3. A short report* on what students can expect to see. Are there any special exhibits or special events planned during our visit?

4. List of, at least, 3 things students should learn while on the field trip.

*All reports should be neatly done and well organized.

 Evaluation

Students will receive a grade based on the following point values:

quality of presentation........................10
presentation on target.........................10
cooperation in group..........................10
written report.....................................10
