CSX Scraps the Tracks
- East of Athens Ohio
.
During December through January 1992 the
scrapping of track continued East,
toward Belpre and Parkersburg. The
scrapping would eventually stop a few miles
West of Belpre Ohio.
.
This rail would then be shipped South
for use on CSX tracks in Georgia. One of the
track foreman told me that they didn't
like this type of rail ( 122 Lbs./Yard ) because
it had a thin web ( vertical section of
rail ) and often during a derailment the head
would separate for the base, requiring
the rail to be replaced too.
