CSX  Scraps the Tracks  -  East  of  Athens  Ohio
.
During December through January 1992 the scrapping of track continued East,
toward Belpre and Parkersburg.  The scrapping would eventually stop a few miles
West of  Belpre Ohio.
.
This rail would then be shipped South for use on CSX  tracks in Georgia.  One of the
track foreman told me that they didn't  like this type of rail ( 122 Lbs./Yard ) because
it had a thin web ( vertical section of rail ) and often during a derailment the head
would separate for the base, requiring the rail to be replaced too.

A crewman walks ahead looking for the 1/4 mile mark to cut the rail.
Notice the old grade crossing to the right of the engine.  The flangeways of
the old  "Cole siding"  are still visable thru it.  The second engine is setting on
the spot where Cole's  West switch use to be.
