Please consider my application for one of the Crime Analyst internship positions you recently advertised in the local newspaper. I will be graduating from Ohio University in May of 2005 with an Associates Degree in Pre-Law/ Sociology-Criminology. I have spoken with various crime analysts, who have motivated me to apply for this position.
Last year I worked as a Resident Assistant (RA) in an all freshman residence hall. Freshman halls are known for being noisy and having out of control behavior. Through this job experience, I was able to work with the Ohio University Police Department in handling various alcohol, drug, and violent situations. This experience has given me a clear understanding of the different crimes and acts of violence that I would like to analyze in the workforce.
My experience as a secretary for Westway Gardens Apartments has given me the secretarial skills needed for an office position. I am a fast and efficient learner. I can operate most office equipment and can type fast. I have a friendly and approachable personality that is reflected in my customer service skills. With these skills I am able to work well when in a group, which is essential in a Crime Analyst position.
I have confidence in my skills and qualifications. My experience and education have prepared me to work well with others and to accomplish my tasks fast and efficiently. I am responsible, hard-working, and dedicated, which would be an asset to your precinct.
