2003 350Z FAQ

This page is designed to help answer any questions you have on the 350Z.  If you don’t see the answer to your question here, feel free to e-mail me at Bov82@juno.com.

Will the 350Z be available with T-Tops?

The 2003 350Z will not have T-Tops.  A convertible model will be available at some point in time, however.

When will the convertible Z hit showroom floors?

Nissan has not announced at this time when the convertible model will debut.  It should be available during the 2003 model year, but exactly when has not been announced.

Will the 350Z be available with a sunroof?

Surprisingly, Nissan has not listed a sunroof as an option on any of the Z’s five trim levels.  This could be to put more emphasis on the convertible, but Nissan has not said why.

Will the 350Z have a turbocharger?

The 2003 350Z will not have a turbocharger available.

What are the 0-60 and quarter-mile times for the 350Z?

At this time, none of the magazines have been able to formally test the 350Z for 0-60 and quarter-mile times.  Nissan has said that the 350Z will hit 60 in less than six seconds, and they have also stated that the 350Z will be the fastest Z ever.  The December issue of Road & Track estimates a quarter-mile time of 14.0.

How much horsepower will the Z have?

The 350Z will have at least 280 horsepower.  At this time, Nissan has yet to announce formal horsepower figures.  Speculation (and this is strictly speculation) is that Nissan is shooting for a little less than 300 hp.

What is the curb weight of the 350Z & what is the weight distribution?

Nissan has yet to formally announce curb weight (seems to be a recurring theme, doesn’t it?).  Road & Track estimated in their December 2001 issue that the curb weight will be 3150 lbs.  To give a little bit more range, I would say the 350Z will weigh between 3150 and 3200 lbs.  Weight distribution is 52/48.  Nissan engineers intentionally designed the weight to be distributed that way because they believe it improves the car’s handling over 50/50 weight distribution.

Is the 350Z available as a 2+2?

No, the 2003 350Z will be strictly a 2-seater.

Is the 350Z available with an automatic?

Yes, certain models of the 350Z do have a 5-speed automatic.  The Touring & the Enthusiast models are the models with the auto available.  You can see what options are available with the automatic by going to the 350Z pricing chart.

Is the 350Z front or rear-wheel drive?

The 350Z, like all Zs before it, is rear-wheel drive.

Is the color of the 350Z displayed in the 2003 350Z Picture Gallery chrome silver or silverstone?

Actually, the color displayed in those pictures is neither chrome silver nor silverstone.  The 350Z in those pictures is a show car and has a VERY expensive show car paint job.  However, the paint in those pictures is closer to the chrome silver than the silverstone.

What is a Homelink Universal Transceiver?

Homelink Transceivers, available on most of the cars in the Z’s price range, are basically glorified garage door openers.  They can be programmed to open your garage door, as well as things like turning the lights on in your home if you purchase additional equipment.

How many 350Zs have been pre-ordered?

As of March 27, 2002, Nissan Vice President and General Manager Bill Kirrane announced at the New York International Auto Show that there have been over 3,500 350Z pre-orders.  In addition to that, Nissan reports 2.2 million web site hits, and 120,000 brochure requests.

Are there any good magazine articles about the 350Z?

Both Motortrend and Car & Driver had brief less than one page articles on the 350Z a few months back.  Those two articles don’t really tell the reader anything in detail.  By far the best 350Z magazine article I read was in the December 2001 issue of Road & Track.  This article was well written and very accurate.  Click here to open Road & Track’s article…

Do you work for Nissan?

No, I do not work for Nissan.  I would not have posted this question, except I have had a few people ask me if I work for Nissan.  One person even asked me if he could order directly from me, or if he had to go to a dealer.  I am a Nissan & Z enthusiast.  I have followed the 350Z since it was in concept form back in 1999, and that has led me to be interested in all of Nissan’s models.

I didn’t see the answer to my question here.  Can you help?
