How to contribute

Contributing to Orvis is really pretty simple. First, you'll want to be a member. For questions about that, look at our joining information page. Next, just send me the submission at schvanckque@hotmail.com and wait to see it on here. Of course, there are general guide lines to follow, but most are common sense. The guide lines for each particular area are stated below.

For visual arts - Just make sure it's a .gif or .jpg. Any kind of visual artwork will be fine, be it a painting, drawing or photograph, but nothing obscene. If you have nudity, fine, but keep it in decent taste. You can be the judge of that before you send it. Anything inappropriate won't be put up, but it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

For music - If it's at all possible, I'd prefer a MIDI file. If you can't make a MIDI, send me a copy the score and I'll do it for you and put it up. If it doesn't have a score, that's also fine. I don't want big .wav or. mp3 files (they just take up too much space), but if you have a low-quality, nice, short clip, I'll put that on here. If you have a longer MP3 and you really want it on here, you can always upload it to your own personal site and I'll link to it from here. If that's not at all possible, I'll see what I can do to upload it here.

For literature - Only .txt files here, please. If you wish to make a seperate page for your writing and have it put here, you're more than welcome, but I really don't have time to do it myself, so all of the literature submissions will be loaded in .txt form and linked to. You can just paste it into the body of the email, if you want, and I'll get it from there, but, as I don't have every wordprocessor in the world, other formats might not get used. Should this be the case, I'll notify you and we'll get it sorted.

For personal page - Every person is responsible for their own pages, including pages for visual arts, music and literature.. That doesn't mean you need to learn HTML, but it does mean you'll have to tell me via email what to put there. If you do want to do the HTML for it yourself, you're more than welcome. Also, the page doesn't have to conform to the rest of the site. Any background or scripts you want on your page will be fine with me. If you would, try to avoid using huge images for your background, as they take longer to load, and be sure that everything can be read with the background you select. Also, you're intitled to a page for every area you contribute to, but I can't very well offer pages in the music section if you've only done literature and so on. If you want to link to other pages from one of your art/bio pages, that's fine too, but I can't really make more pages here for each individual member, so you'll have to do those ones alone.

For everything - This should go without saying, but plagerism and anything else that infringes on any copyright law will be frowned up and immediately removed. We always try to be as liberal as we can, but this is a strict rule that we are all going to be forced to obey.

Any questions? Just click the contacting tab on the top navigational section and email me, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
