About Myself!

I am originally from Piqua, Ohio.  I attended elementary, middle, and high school there.  I am currently a Senior at Ohio University majoring in Early Childhood Education.  I am involved in the CARE partnership- Creating Active and Reflective Educators for democratic education!  Through this  I have had over 1,000 hours experience teaching at Amesville Elementary School.  I have taught in kindergarten, first, second, and fourth grade classrooms there.  This fall I will be student teaching in a preschool classroom at Amesville and then student teaching in first grade in the winter.  I love spending time with kids~especially reading children's books.

At OU, I am on on the women's club volleyball team (currently the Vice President).  We are a student run team and compete against other university club teams in day-long tournaments.  I am also the Vice President of the Omega chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international education honors fraternity.  KDPi is dedicated to scholarship and excellence in education.  I have also participated in the Child Assualt Prevention Project (CAP)!  I am a big advocate for children's rights.

Upon Graduation in March 2003, I plan to substitute teach in the Athens area.  In September I hope to begin the fellowship program between Ohio University and Amesville Elementary, where I can teach half-day and earn my masters in technology.  I then have visions of moving to Denver Colorado to teach at an expeditionary learning school (one of few in the country).  Expeditions allow students to create and conquer their own learning through active participation!!  Eventually I plan to return close to my hometown of Piqua-to be with my family.
