Presentations
Each student will provide one 30-minute presentation representing a broad biological overview of a topic based on several to many references; and one subsequent 15-minute presentation focusing on the details of one significant journal article for the same topic. Topics will be selected by students on a random lottery basis. The "30-minute" presentations should equal 25 minutes plus 5 more minutes for questions and discussion; the "15-minute" presentations should equal 12 minutes with 3 for questions. The presentations should be polished, practiced and well timed. Grades will be based heavily on peer critiques covering all aspects of the presentation and content, augmented by critiques of the instructors.
Topics
1) heat tolerance/fire
2) cold tolerance
3) wind or gravity stress/reaction wood
4) flooding tolerance
5) drought tolerance
6) salt tolerance
7) nutrient deficiency tolerance
8) heavy metal tolerance
