1. Why did you choose Ohio University to conduct your higher education studies?
Ohio University struck me as a school that is competitive with other universities and committed to teaching the skills that are necessary for students to succeed in the business world. Also, there is a big emphasis on computer knowledge and professionalism.
2. What are the three major characteristics that you bring to the job market?
I am very flexible when it comes to adapting to new environments and learning new skills. I always give 100 percent and will not rest until my task is completed and done correctly. Also, I am friendly and able to communicate with all sorts of people with relative ease.
3. What are your career goals (a) 3 years from now; (b) 10 years from now?
In 3 years I would like to be competent in my field and ready to move to the next level in my occupation. 10 years from now I would like to be stable in my career and be with a company for the long-term.
4. What have your learned from your extracurricular activities?
Through tutoring elementary school children, I have learned that it is important to possess patience and to know how to communicate effectively. I have also learned how to interact with my professors and other advisors in a professional manner through my involvement with Student Senate.
5. What two or three things are most important to you at work?
I think that in a job setting group work is essential and therefore a friendly and helpful work environment is necessary. I also value room for advancement so that there is incentive to work hard and reward for a job well done.
6. Describe a challenge you encountered and how you dealt with it.
I have worked several jobs in retail and I have learned through several incidents how to work and communicate with people under undesirable circumstances. I have found that patience and calmness will result in a solution that satisfies all the parties involved.
7. Describe a failure and how you dealt with it.
When I was in high school, I overextended myself and was trying to participate in too many activites. I eventually had to give up my duties as layout editor for my school newspaper because I felt that it needed more attention than I was able to provide and that someone else could do a better job.
8. What have you done in the past year to improve yourself?
This past year I began tutoring elementary school students and found that it is personally rewarding and a great way to give back to the community. I have also been attending sessions throught the College of Business to help improve my resume and my interviewing skills so that I am able to get the internships and jobs that will prepare me for business world.
