Some Favorite Bookmarks

Below is an assignment I did for an education class. The topic explored was Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo and Juliet.  I have taught this play to high school freshmen for several years and am looking for a new, exciting way to help students become emersed in Shakespeare's world. These sites help students learn about Shakespeare, his stage, and the play itself.
 
 

Romeo & Juliet-  This site provides several graphics from the recent movie production of Romeo and Juliet.  There are also useful links to William Shakespeare's life, the play itself, and a glossary of words used in the play.  The site will provide great graphics for a Power Point presentation.

Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet-  Graphics from the movie dominate this site.  Another aspect of the site is its brief summary of the story of Romeo and Juliet.  The original artwork as well as movie clips make this site exceptionally interesting to view.

Romeo and Juliet Pictures, News and Links- This site provides valuable links designed for high school students regarding Romeo and Juliet.  The language is geared toward high school freshmen, using several slang terms and teenage lingo.  There is also, however, a place for teachers to find lesson plans.

Romeo and Juliet ClassicNotes: Romeo and Juliet About the Play Pictures, -  This site is designed especially for educators and is found on gradesaver.  This particular page gives background information on the play itself.  It gives information about the inspiration for the play as well as productions throughout time.

Guide 5: This is yet another site geared toward educators.  It is an extensive lesson plan for teaching Romeo and Juliet to all levels of students.  Student goals and a timeline are given as well as links and assignments.

Romeo and Juliet Study Guide-  This site gives a study guide complete with notes and study questions for students about the play.

Romeo and Middle Ages and Renaissance Juliet Unit-Background information about Shakespeare's time period is provided on this site.  Social life and customs are the main focus of information.

William Shakespeare- Here the site visitor is provided with background on the Bard himself.  Both Shakespeare's personal life and career are explored.

Ask Jeeves Answer: The reconstructed Globe stage- This site is unique in that it actually takes the visitor on a virtual tour of the recently reconstructed Globe Theater in London.  Color graphics and subtitles make the site easy to navigate.

Romeo and Juliet: Table of Contents -  This site provides the original texts of Romeo and Juliet.

 Romeo and Juliet Prompt-books -  Here are original prompt books from various productions of the play.
