View of Island #1, KY006L, towards the North. Wolfe Creek Dam is just beyond the tree to the right, maybe 1/4 mile. That is my tent and one of my deep-cycle batteries in front of it.

Southern view of KY006L out of the tent door. The overcast skys soon became filled with rain, thunder and lightning! I packed out of there in a hurry.

This is KY007L, Island #2. Notice the sophisticated Antenna Diagonal Force Reduction Unit, more commonly known as an "Umbrella." The depthfinder just in front of the umbrella was a source of QRM that sounded somewhat like a digital communication mode. I figured that out after a dozen or so tough QSO's!

A look at KY008L, Island #3. Lake Cumberland is such a beautiful lake with rocky shores and lots of trees! The depthfinder was almost always registering over 100' of depth, 187' being the deepest that I found. Just 20 feet off of shore and you were into 100' of water!

Here is the Island Assault Vehicle, at rest in a little cove on KY009L, Island #4, while I was fixing the antenna mount. An insulated pocket was used to hold the 16 foot element. It did break and allowed the antenna base to short to the boat frame while it swayed. Thanks to black tape, all was well. The gas engine failed after this island and only the electric motor saved me a very long row back to the dock. I had to cut my trip short because of it! Oh well, ol' Murphy gets you one way or another.
