"... some people may think (Mandy is) younger than I mean her to be...it's the pigtails. But they are an indicator of innocence, not of youth...she's old enough to be on her own and past college, making her way in the world. So...she's 22 - well into the sexuality 'comfort zone'. I see her basically as one of life's innocents...sensual and sexy without trying to be, by no means a dumb blonde, and not at all Mandy by Dean Yeagle -- click to enlarge self-absorbed, and so not fully aware of her effect on the general, less architecturally blessed, population. She expects decency from people, and is so straightforward and honest that she usually gets it.

"She doesn't dress provocatively...well, she doesn't think she does - she just likes to be comfortable. She is as much a part of nature as a fawn, and nudity is as natural to her as it is to her dog Skoots. In private, of course...although she does take art classes, and is generously willing to pose nude for the class when asked (which, not so astonishingly, she always is). A modest girl, she blushes a bit, but, well, okay...for Art's sake. She has never been asked to pay the tuition.

"Don't ask me about her sex life...I have no idea, and would be embarrassed to ask her. And again, she'd blush.

"She is very curious about the world around her, concerned with her education, and takes other classes as well. She plays the oboe, with absolutely no thought whatsoever of any subliminal implications, and loves all kinds of music. She reads poetry (notice the Emily Dickinson on the floor in the 'Mooning the Moon' pic), and Victorian novelists, loves old movies, visits the art museum on a regular basis. She loves animals of all kinds, and is afraid of none of them, not even spiders (which she cups in her hands and puts carefully outside if she finds one in the house). She found Skoots as a puppy shivering in a culvert in the rain, and took him home. He is her staunch and valiant protector.

"She is athletic, but charmingly clumsy. She is indeed fun-loving, but not in a shallow sense - she's easily capable of Pure Joy. She can be pensive, but never depressed, and feels any hurt deeply.

"She scorns fads. She makes up her own mind. She sings in the shower. She likes water. She doesn't cook terribly well, but she's learning. She likes milkshakes.

"She's kind. She's nice. She's sweet. You'd like her. And she'd like you." -- Dean Yeagle at sketchbooksessions
