Some info from Illinois:

Patrick Ryan, photographer for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office,
joined the Navy Reserve as Intelligence Specialist 2nd Class (he’s
heard all the oxymoron jokes). He leaves for a 17-day boot camp in
February and then one weekend a month to Intel School at Fort Sheridan.
Pat will likely become a Image Analyst/Photo Interpreter. If and when
he gets mobilized it will be to support an active duty north of London
at an old bomber base used in WW ll. At age 35 Pat is proud to serve.
The events of September 11th were overwhelming factors in joining.
GALESBURG
Corey Schjoth, staff photographer at the Register-Mail since April
2001, will be leaving the great white north for the deep south and
settle in Natchez, Miss., to work for The Natchez Democrat as a staff
photographer. His wife Tracy Blake will be taking a job there as well.
DEKALB
Daily Chronicle Photo Editor Don Vaughan and his wife have recently
passed their test with Majo their 120-pound female Tosa (a rare
Japanese breed) and is certified with Therapy Dogs Incorporated. They
will visit nursing homes and hospitals with their dog doing animal
assisted activities.
CHICAGO
Sun-Times staffer Jean Lachat gave birth to daughter Jessica Marie
LiVgni on May 2nd. She joins Jean’s husband Joe and three-year-old
daughter Rebecca in their new home in Mokena.
JACKSONVILLE
ValÄrie Berta left her two-year-long stint in December to join the
staff of the Riverside, Calif., Press-Enterprise. The native of France
is not only moving to a bigger paper, but also closer to her boyfriend
Fridman. Fridman is circus acrobat from Peru ValÄrie met while when the
show came through Jacksonville.
And in an even exchange, Sacramento native Clay Stalter signed on as a
staff photographer in December. He is a recent graduate of San Jose
State University.
Mizzou graduate Elizabeth Ortega, of St. Louis, left after her summer
internship to intern in Lincoln, Neb.
The Ohio University graduate Josh Duplechian came on board for a short
internship in the fall. He returned to his native Ohio at Christmas to
become a stringer in Dayton.
Lloyd Young, who has been freelancing in Bloomington since “retiring”
from The Pantagraph, joined the staff as a pinch-hitter in June. He
stepped in for Steve Warmowski as he and his wife Tiffany (Hermon)
honeymooned in Sweden for three weeks (more on the honeymoon next
month). Lloyd now is in graduate school at The Ohio University VisCom
program.
Tiffany Hermon in September marked her first year as a designer. She
had been interested in design since starting at the paper, and decided
to give it a try after marrying Steve last September. She works nights
and usually does the front page and other news pages.
Journal-Courier photographers had an exhibition of their work at the
Strawn Art Gallery in Jacksonville in December. Almost 100 photographs
by Steve, Tiffany, ValÄrie, Clay and Josh were displayed. The pictures
were available for a $25 donation to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. In all,
almost $1,000 was raised for the organization. The art association was
also pleased with the large turnout for the opening reception and the
entire gallery run, adding that many people who usually don’t go to the
art gallery visited in December.
SPRINGFIELD
