Heavenbound Farm has been home to Australian Shepherd dogs since 1973 and Missouri Foxtrotter horses since 1985.  We started breeding Aussies in 1978 and they have become a large part of life.  They are wonderful companions, silly entertainers, protectors of life and property.  Never a day goes by that I am not amazed by something new this breed can understand.

They know when sorrow is bearing us under; they join in the giddiness of rolling in a fresh snowfall; they listen for the sound of our truck engine and run to meet us at the door; they see the danger of a horse getting too close to us in the field and get in between to drive him away; they see the opossum and raccoon as thieves of our supplies and protect our goods and gardens; they snuggle in our bed (if allowed) and keep an ear out for danger while we sleep; they guide “our little sheep” away from harm by standing in the gap.  How could life be right without our Aussies?  What better friend could there be?  If you have never experienced an Aussie’s devotion, check them out—a great addition to a family and a wonderful companion if you are single.  Fun, adaptable, smart, beautiful.  They have it all!

Heavenbound is also home to Missouri Foxtrotter horses, the pleasure horse of today.  Smooth gaited, sensible, lovely to watch and ride.  They are good natured and medium sized horses that will return you to the barn less fatigued after a long day in the saddle.  More like a big dog than a horse.  Come try one out—”To Ride One Is To Own One.”

Pictured above and to the right is our newest little filly born Spring 2008, gaiting with mom Gator.  Isn’t she pretty?

Lily is the love of this 12-year-old boy’s life.  She is a very special puppy, and shares in everything he does… she devotedly guards him all night, not resting until he falls asleep...looking up at him in his loft bed. I have found Nicky sleeping on the floor beside Lily, curled up in a puppy-boy ball, all warm and furry. She awakens him in the morning with a woof, a bit earlier than he (or Mom) would like. Then they are off for a run or a bike ride, Lily trotting along beside him on leash. She wants nothing more than to please him and be with him...Lily is his best friend and confidant.
Nicky found Lily's (AKA Lyla) picture online, and would not even look at another puppy. Love at first sight.  I called and spoke with Barb and we went to see Lily. I knew we would not be leaving without her... but I felt very confident after speaking with Barb that this was a good thing and Nick had found an exceptional puppy. She has been very healthy, easy to train and work with, even through the puppy stage.

Nick is doing a 4-H project with her, and the extra obedience they work on together has given them both a job to do. He is hoping to do 4-H agility with her next year when she is older. Lily is a very loving girl and a wonderful addition to our family. We couldn't be more pleased with her. She has turned out to be exactly that special dog Nick (and Barb) knew she would be. Thank you Barb for a well-bred, beautiful, healthy, loving puppy.
