8 June 2000-- I went to see Dr. Glueck and it was great! He is a bit gruff, but very helpful and willing to explain to me why he has given metformin (glucophage)? That's right! He gave me metformin to take 3X a day. It is 500 mg to start, and he said that after the first two months that he might give me 850 mg to take three times a day. I am really excited (and nervous) to take this drug. But, I am so desperate for something to work.

20 June 2000-- I have been taking metformin 500 mg 3X a day for 10 days now. I finally got over the side effects. I had diarreha, nausea, and I was really, really tired there for awhile. But, I feel better. I do not having gravings for sugar or carbs like I used to and I just feel different all over. 10 July 2000-- I feel so much better. I have lost 10 lbs, I have no edema at all, I have no carb cravings, I just feel better. My side effects are gone too! Oh yeah, I got my period today. I think that this met is really going to work out for me. I have to go see Dr. Glueck again in a few weeks, so I will see if the numbers have changed too.

28 July 2000-- I went to my appt with Dr. Glueck and he is very encouraged my the changes that have occured in my outward PCOS symptoms since my last visit. He gave me a perscription for 850 mg 3X of met. We will see how that goes. He thinks that it will help me lose weight faster. Wish me luck!

12 August 2000-- I am feeling so much better. I had only one day of really badk side effects with the new dosage of met. I have lost inches on my weight and I feel better all over. After taking the 500 mg of met, my glucose level lowered my several points. See my latest test results. I am dealing with this just fine. I hope that I can start losing more weight! Oh yeah, I got my second period from met on August 10. Woo-hoo!
