Cinnamon

Cinnamon has been used for years as a calming digestive aid. Recent studies have shown, however, that it also has other medicinal properties. CAUTION: PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD USE CINNAMON IN CULINARY AMOUNTS ONLY.

Lowers Blood Sugar: According to Callalil's site, 1/2 to 3/4 tsp. of cinnamon with every meal helps keep insulin & blood sugar levels under control. It contains a phytochemical called methyl hydroxy chalcone polymer (MHCP) which improves cellular glucose utilization and increases the sensitivity of insulin receptors.

Improves Circulation: Cinnamon has been noted for it's power to energize and warm the body and improve circulation.

Promotes Menstruation: According to Castleman's book (see my resources list), cinnamon can bring on menstruation, but it should be used only in culinary amounts for women who are pregnant.

Other Uses of Cinnamon: pain relief (contains natural anesthetic oil eugenol), digestive aid, reduces blood pressure, infection prevention
